RENO, NV (KOLO) The City of Reno’s two outdoor pools, Idlewild Pool and Traner Pool, will open to the public for the summer season Saturday, June 8, 2019. But because of what the city says is a “severe lifeguard shortage”, Reno will implement open swim sessions at Traner Pool, and Evelyn Mount Northeast Community Center (EMNECC) Pool will close at 2 p.m. daily. EMNECC Pool and Northwest Pool are the city’s two indoor, year-round pools. Due to a national lifeguard shortage, and for the safety of all patrons, Traner Pool’s daily open swim program will be split into two sessions, and admission will be limited capacity based on lifeguard availability. Daily wristbands will be used to identify paid admission to open swim sessions. Non-paying spectators will be issued a separate wristband and will not be allowed to swim in the pool. If you arrive for Session 1 and it is full, you may pre-purchase a wrist band for Session 2. Only in-person, same-day purchases will be allowed.
